LEGO® Schools of the Future!

This year, NEW is sponsoring a "Schools of the Future" contest ( with $100 prizes! ). Instead of having a sleepover, I have spent the last twelve weeks discussing simple machines ( see the simple machines page in the library at weirdrichard.com ), talking engineering trivia ( "Who invented the first petrol-driven car?" "What came first, the invention of the telescope or the discovery of America?" ), defining who engineers are and what they do, and designing a school of the future using LEGO® elements!

  • Note: I will not be submitting these as entries, but I am encouraging PCS parents and students to enter this contest on their own. The purpose of the class is to demonstrate some of the underlying principles of architecture and engineering.
