LEGO® BRICKS AND BASIC ARCHITECTURE!
The following represents some nomenclature of architecture. It is extremely worthwhile to have students
build examples (out of LEGO® bricks of course ) of each of the following:
LEGO® bricks are a great teaching tool for architecture. For example, one way you can increase strength in
LEGO® structures is by overlapping bricks. When you stack bricks up, LEGO® walls are relatively
easy to knock over. When they are interlaced, they can withstand a fairly strong push.
At the school, Jason and I hung a LEGO® weight from the ceiling to represent a wrecking ball.
We challenged our students to build a wall that could withstand a direct hit! The results were
pretty dramatic!
